The Empty Bowls program was founded in 1990-1991 by a Michigan high school teacher who created ceramic bowls with his students and then sold them, in turn and gave the profits to hunger-relief charities.
This event is organized by volunteers and runs on almost a zero budget, which means time, services and products are donated at little or no cost, so all the money can help others.
